Voi Unit  November  2017  Mbirikani and Ishaq-B ran in and out of water in what was perceived to be some kind of competition. Ajali seemed to like their game and joined in, even though he is not usually a fan of the water.  
 
After a wonderful noon mud bath, Mbirikani and Tundani went for a scratching session against a big tree trunk while Kenia and Arruba waited to have a turn when they were done. (read more...)

In the evening, when the orphans returned to the safety of the stockades for the night, Embu, Rorogoi, Suswa, Arruba and Bada were brought into Tahri's big stockade so that they could socialize and get to know each other in preparation of her joining them in the fields. (read more...)

Nursery Unit  December  2015  Kiko stayed in his pen until the rain had eased slightly, but Pea and Pod the ostriches left with the older orphans looking wet and bedraggled. Lovely Naseku has completely settled and these days she is becoming another greedy individual for milk. During public viewing after the first group walked back into the bush, Naseku sneaked back to the mud wallow together with the next older group… just to get another bottle of milk! Some of the older orphans had their milk right at the lorry since the translocation training process of Arruba, Mashariki, and Rorogoi to Tsavo East National Park has begun. (read more...)

Nursery Unit  November  2015  Today at around 2.45pm we had such a downpour that saw the five little babies to come back indoors whilst the older orphans enjoyed the wet weather and rolling and sliding in the mud. As usual for the boys during such play games of rolling down Kauro, Enkikwe, Olsekki and Sokotei had a busy time trying to climb on some of the girls who were trying to play like Suswa, Mashariki, Embu, Arruba and Oltaiyoni. (read more...) view

We have found that Arruba is not always happy to have strangers near the baby orphans and she makes this apparent at the private visit when she will sometimes try and push the visitors or swing her trunk at them in an effort to get them away from the babies who she loves and is very protective of. (read more...)

This is his usual place for mischief-making, namely chasing and playing with the drivers who stay there! Nursery Unit  July  2014  The older group of elephants had been browsing for a short period of time before they encountered the herd of our 5 youngest baby elephants.
