Voi Unit  September  2017  Tundani seemed to take a brief nap from which she was awoken when she heard her friends heading out to the fields.  
 
The orphans settled on the northern foot of Msinga hill to browse with Kenia and Ndii leading them all to the baobab water hole at noon. The orphans all enjoyed a wonderful cooling wallow during which they vigorously kicked the water with their front legs while Mashariki, Embu and Bada scooped trunkfulls of mud, carefully spraying themselves with it until most of their bodies were covered. (read more...)

Voi Unit  December  2016  Mudanda who seem to have missed her adopted mother Lesanju ran to welcome and join her for some love and attention. Since Lesanju was the loving mother for all the babies, she made a quick patrol of the stockade to establish whether there were new orphan elephants in the taming stables, and found Nguvu and Embu who spent their night in the two separate stockades so that they could be given extra supplements to boost their strength. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  January  2016  During public visiting today she would not let the public visitors touch him when he came to the rope cordon and she would push them away if they tried. This meant the keepers moved Ngilai away from the line for the safety of the visitors from Dupotto! It is so amazing to see the transformation of Dupotto who has been the needy one, being Embuís baby to now stepping up to offer that same love and protection to Ngilai when the baby group is spending time away from the bigger group. (read more...) view

There is such a variety of vegetation since the rain, with new soft, green grass which most of them prefer at this time having had a lack of it in the driest month. Some did not want to go into the thick bush because everything was so wet, but Suswa, Elkerama and his friend Ngilai, Rorogoi and Embu all do not mind the wet and they headed further afield. (read more...) view

He accidentally missed his footing though and ended up in the deepest part of the mudbath, bringing a swift end to his game! All the commotion of the morning left the entire elephant herd rather unsettled, and Enkikwe, Olsekki, Sokotei, Embu and little Dupotto separated themselves to be at peace. (read more...)

It was quite cold today so the babies had to wear their blankets; it's always a challenge to get Dupotto's blanket on and it takes a number of attempts before the blanket stays on. Dupotto has become quite a difficult little elephant; at night when Dupotto has to go into her own stockade she screams and yells because she is being separated from Embu(read more...)
