Nursery Unit  September  2017  He was in a very naughty mood and when a documentary film crew arrived the keepers had a hard time controlling him. He must have seen them coming from a distance and immediately came over and started chasing them around. He wouldn’t listen to his keepers commands and then started trying to kick the smallest elephants! That was when Mbegu, Godoma, Ndotto and Esampu intervened and charged him, trumpeting all the while. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  August  2017  At the public visit today when their time was up and they had finished their milk, the first group was on their way back to the forest. Godoma was leading the group out and across the little bridge where the water runs down the rocks and the others were following in line, all except Kuishi and Esampu who were being very playful and shoved the smaller babies to the side to get to the front. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  July  2017  Unfortunately, the game didn’t last long as Rapa and Ngilai decided it would be more fun to chase Sana Sana, Kuishi and Malima. Nursery Unit  July  2017  It’s quite funny to watch Tagwa who has learnt that all the other girls like Esampu, Godoma, Malkia, Malima and Sana Sana like to argue over who will mother and babysit Musiara, leaving her to dote on little Sattao. (read more...) view
Nursery Unit  July  2017  He tested the temperature of the mud with his trunk before jumping in and running up and down and playing with a football. Esampu joined him and Malima did not want to be left out of the fun either – within no time everyone was having fun in the mud and after they went to dry themselves on the soil piles. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  June  2017  She started wallowing and kicking the football up and down in the mud throughout the entire time the orphans were there, about half an hour! By 11am she was still in the same happy and playful mood. She engaged Ambo in a lengthy pushing and dusting game which was so funny to watch as they raised their ears up wide whilst playing and kicked up a lot of dust! 
 
Today Esampu was in a better mood and with the presence of so many school children she behaved well. (read more...)

Nursery Unit  May  2017  They are very confident they will be safe in the company of the orphans throughout the day. Today Esampu didn’t leave them alone or give them even a minute of peace as some of the babies were with the herd and she did not want to tolerate the warthogs near them too. (read more...) view
Nursery Unit  May  2017  Often at some stage in the day, they will take a break from the others and go off to browse on their own. Today they did the same thing but the nice thing about these two is that the keepers do not need to go and look for them, they will always find the herd and come back!

Nursery Unit  April  2017  All three of these babies are becoming quite greedy characters these days for their milk, and this is why they try to sneak away from the others and back to the stockades, to see if they might be able to find any more milk. It is funny that Mundusi is always the leader of the three and yet he is the newest arrival!

Nursery Unit  November  2016  This gave Ndotto a fright and he ran off looking for Oltaiyoni and the rest of the herd. His yelling frightened the rest of the group and they followed him and when they reached the rest of the herd they all stood together with their ears held high; even little ones like Jotto, Ambo, Tamiyoi, Esampu and Malkia were seen with their ears held high but standing tight in the middle of the group, in the midst of Roi, Mbegu, Oltaiyoni, Kamok, Kauro and Maramoja. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  October  2016  Little ones likes Jotto, Ambo and Esampu who can hardly soil dust themselves their trunks are still so small, were happily assisted by their keepers and they were very happy scampering and rolling in the loose soil as it was thrown on their little bodies in shovels, as they rolled against Mbegu, Godoma, Pare and Tagwa. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  October  2016  Kauro and Roi rolled on the soil as Ndotto, Rapa and Lasayen all enjoyed climbing, bumping and sliding on them. Naughty Rapa was trying to bully Ndotto and Lasayen away from Roi so that he could enjoy sliding on her himself – but they teamed up together to try and push him away too! 
 
During the public visit today Esampu was the cause of chaos when she tried to interrupt the other babies from enjoying their milk bottles. (read more...)

Some of the people didn’t want to move down the queue when the visiting time opened, as they were busy taking pictures of Kiko!
