Nursery Unit  December  2016  The warthogs put up a challenge to the young elephants though, as they are very greedy pigs, and they kept coming back again to try and get some scraps. Their activity got the attention of Rapa, Ngilai and Pare but instead of chasing after the warthogs as well they came to chase after the girls! Poor Malkia and Esampu’s game was ruined as they ran to Oltaiyoni, Roi, Naseku and Mbegu for safety from the mischievous boys… something which saw the naughty young boys quickly end their chase and shy away. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  December  2016  Their frequent sightings have caused some discomfort for our giraffe Kiko and he spends most of his time in the stockade area now. They have never attacked any of our elephants, lions in Nairobi park do not know how to, but the elephants nevertheless still do not like their presence, nor do the keepers! Every time they are spotted Oltaiyoni, Kauro, Roi, Kamok and sometimes even Tusuja are always attentive and keeping an eye on the younger ones. (read more...) view

By the time she got there the vehicle had already passed and instead she ran after it trumpeting and charging all the way up to the stockades! Then Kauro managed to catch her by the tail making her call out in protest as Kauro would not let go! Her shouting drew Oltaiyoni, Roi and Mbegu who came running over and as soon as Kauro and Tusuja saw them approaching they both took off quickly to avoid being reprimanded by the leader of the herd, Oltaiyoni. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  June  2016  The orphans finally started coming out of their stockades at around 7am. Ndotto, well known for his love of climbing, had a lot of fun climbing on tree trunks as soon as he arrived in the forest. Ambo is growing into a very demanding boy, shouting all the time for whatever it is he wants – attention, milk or anything! Today he was following Roi around and bellowing to suckle on her wars like he does with Oltaiyoni, but because she would not let him he went on shouting away. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  August  2015  Embu got up and walked off with Mashariki and put her trunk in her mouth, a sign of comfort and affection. As the two walked off Suswa was left rolling around in the soil on her own, quite happy to have the area to herself! 
 
After public viewing the orphans returned to the soil dusting area where Oltaiyoni, Roi and Mbegu had a busy time dusting themselves. (read more...)

As it was very wet and slippery everywhere the older group all enjoyed a morning mudbath. Their fun was brought to an end when Kithaka, Barsilinga and Lemoyian started to mount Oltaiyoni, Embu, Mbegu, Dupotto, Kamok and Roi(read more...)
