Nursery Unit  December  2016  Their frequent sightings have caused some discomfort for our giraffe Kiko and he spends most of his time in the stockade area now. They have never attacked any of our elephants, lions in Nairobi park do not know how to, but the elephants nevertheless still do not like their presence, nor do the keepers! Every time they are spotted Oltaiyoni, Kauro, Roi, Kamok and sometimes even Tusuja are always attentive and keeping an eye on the younger ones. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  November  2016  This happened today during public visiting time. The keepers were guarding the wheelbarrow very well as they waited for the elephants to come down for their bottles. Roi had tried a couple of times to steal a bottle from the wheelbarrow but had been unsuccessful and had turned her attention to Tusuja who is able to hold his own bottle and feed himself so well. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  September  2016  Just before 8am their peaceful browsing session came to a swift end when Kiko came running towards them, which frightened them and made them trumpet and charge around. Playful Kiko started running up and down, turning when he came too close to the orphans who were protesting the disturbance! Naughty Kamok, Maramoja, Tusuja, Kauro and Naseku tried to chase him in the bushes, though Kiko challenged them by running fast and leaving them behind. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  June  2016  The keeper warned her away and said she had had her share, but as she walked away she bellowed loudly, clearly not satisfied by that! Her shouting drew the attention of the visiting public, who marveled at the similarity between these babies and human ones in age, behaviour and characters! 
 
When the orphans were back in the forest again after their milk and that visiting time, Tusuja and Boromoko had a busy time sizing each other up and enjoying moments of charging and pushing each other which attracted Kiko’s attention, who started happily running in and out of the bushes in his own game. (read more...)
