Early in the morning today Ukame, Wanjala and Galla successfully left for the Ithumba Stockades where they will be slowly reintroduced to the wild over a number of years; we are so happy that they are beginning this next step towards returning to a wild life. (read more...)

Nursery Unit  May  2017  Having not shown any sadness or upset yesterday, today their mood was very different. Apart from Mundusi and Ndiwa who stay apart from the group most of the time, the entire herd was crowded together. Nursery Unit  May  2017  Before she got there the keepers were already at the scene to help him and by the time she reached him he was free. Together with Maramoja they hugged him and as Mbegu confirmed that all was well with him they walked out to the forest together.  
 
Today Mundusi remembered the days he was brought back to the stockades before the 5pm visit and decided to return back early to have his milk! Ukame and Wanjala were also moved back to the other side of the stockades where the other orphans spent the night which they were very happy with too. (read more...)

Nursery Unit  April  2017  Maramoja, Wanjala, Godoma, Ukame, Karisa, Kelelari, Rapa, Ndotto, Galla, Lasayen, Sana Sana, Ngilai and Ndiwa were all walking out and as the young baboons bounced around on their mothers back and they all chatted loudly, Maramoja, Galla, Wanjala an Karisa marched after them with their ears erect and trumpeting as they stamped around, a show of strength to see the baboons away. (read more...) view
Nursery Unit  April  2017  During the public visit today many of the orphans were enjoying a lengthy mud bath with Mbegu, Ukame, Galla, Kelelari and Karisa being the first in and making such a display that it attracted the attention of all the others as well. (read more...) view
Nursery Unit  April  2017  Their lack of interest prompted poor Kelelari to protest and stamp his feet, and begin trumpeting as well, which succeeded in drawing the attention of Galla and Wanjala, but also Karisa, Ukame, Dupotto, Maramoja and Ndiwa who all came running over and they all enjoyed a busy time of running around in and out of the bushes, trumpeting and stamping with excitement. (read more...) view

Dupotto was there too but only for a short time as she was not too friendly with one of the babies, so she went to join Kelelari, Galla, Wanjala and Ukame who had less interest in the babies. (read more...) view
Nursery Unit  April  2017  Pare was having a nice pushing game with Karisa when Rapa came over and pushed him. He almost fell down but thankfully there was a big tree next to him which kept him upright. He steadied himself and then took on Rapa in a wrestling game and eventually Rapa had to surrender and run into the bushes! The same happened earlier between Ukame and Lasayen – as Ukame has been experiencing the same problem as Pare. (read more...) view

Nursery Unit  March  2017  The big boy Kelelari was left standing alone and confused wondering what the commotion was all about. He too eventually came over to the babies in a strong, low rumbling voice.
