Voi Unit  July   26, 2017 Ex Orphans Lempaute, Layoni, Kivuko and Dabassa visited the stockade early in the morning and joined the babies in the lucerne grass feeding area. After feeding for more than half an hour, Pasaka went for a scratch against a big rock boulder at the entrance of the big stockade complex and thereafter at a rock close to the stockade water trough.

When his friends finished feeding, Layoni, who was keen on Pasaka’s scratching games, walked up to him, lifted his head and flapped his ears while rumbling in greeting. The greeting ceremony between the two was carried out with great energy and excitement. Layoni then joined Pasaka on the scratching game before leaving for the browsing grounds.

The four Ex Orphans followed the juniors from a distance but later veered off towards the Mzima-Mombasa pipeline side. In the evening, when the juniors were already in their stockades, Lempaute, Kivuko, Layoni and Dabassa once again came to the stockades. They had a drink and enjoyed some lucerne grass before heading back to the Park.

Ishaq-B, Tundani and Layoni
