Ithumba Unit  July   28, 2017 Wild elephants and Ex Orphans were at the stockade again this morning to drink water together. When the babies came out of their stockades they ran to join them. Wendi, Kinna, Galana, Mulika and Yatta with their babies were among them. Kama and Gawa scared one of the keepers by charging at him while they played. Wiva later joined in with the fun.

The orphans later walked to the bush and the babies followed their mothers. Most of the wild bulls stayed at the water troughs to continue to drink.
At the mud bath there were over eighty elephants present. The three babies Kama, Gawa and Wiva were busy playing together, rolling around on the ground as they played.
Mulika was with her baby Mwende and was scratching her. The wild elephants were interacting for a long time so the orphans and keepers left and headed to the bush to browse.

Back in the bush, everyone was busy browsing. We had a big group of wild elephants at the stockade this evening with Wendi, Yatta, Kinna and Galana amongst them. They took a drink and then left. Oltayoni, Enkikwe and Sokotei were still in the bush then led the group back home in the evening for their milk bottle.

Gawa greeting Boromoko
