Ithumba Unit  July   15, 2017 It was a chilly morning when the orphans left the stockade and joined Mutara and Narok’s groups in the company of Tomboi, who were waiting outside. After sharing some lucerne, the orphans then left to the Kone area leaving Tomboi and the junior Ex Orphans behind at the stockade compound. The orphans browsed calmly throughout the morning without many games as perhaps it was too cold to play and they were still warming up. At eleven o'clock, Roi led the first group to the mud bath.

It was now much hotterso Boromoko, Sirimon, Tusuja, Olsekki and Lemoyian headed straight for some fun wallowing soon after drinking their milk. Boromoko then engaged Sirimon in a pushing game in the water as Olsekki and Lemoyian waited patiently for their turn to play with Boromoko. Shortly after this, six wild bulls turned up at the mud bath and two of them joined some of the orphans to drink water before wallowing. In the afternoon, the orphans then settled to browse in the area of Kanzikuwhere Oltaiyoni teamed up with Roi to feed while Sokotei played with Olsekki. In the evening Olare’s group showed up at the stockade in the company of twenty wild elephants who enjoyed some fresh water before heading on their way.
