Kibwezi Forest/Umani Springs Unit  July   22, 2017 Today the orphan elephants made their way to the wild waterhole where the wild elephants normally enjoy having a mud bath. Ziwa and Ngasha were both feeling very hot and wanted somewhere to cool off as they had not managed to do so in their normal waterhole. When Ziwa, Ngasha and Jasiri arrived at the big waterhole they found a buffalo sleeping inside the mud. When he heard theorphansand keepers he raised his head and got out of the water to run off while at the same time allowing everyone to see how big he was. The keepers were surprised to see that Mwashoti and Murera, who were closest to the buffalo, did not seem to be afraid of him and rather than running away they just stood calmly watching him as he headedintothe forest.
