THE DE-SNARING PROJECT: MAMBA TEAM KIBWEZI FOREST

Area of Operation:
The Mamba Team is based in the Kibwezi Forest (18,000 acres) their headquarters at Kenze Hill. They constantly patrol throughout the Kibwezi forest ensuring all wildlife is safe from illegal poaching, and supervise the monitoring of all access gates into the area through the 50km unshortable electric fence surrounding the 3 boundaries. The fourth boundary of Kibwezi Forest is into the Chyulu National Park, and the Kenze team also work closely with KWS and the DSWT Chyulu Duma Team providing patrolling support for the greater Chyulu region.
Team Description:
The six man team trained through the Manyani Ranger Training Academy work closely with both KWS and the Kenya Forest Service armed Rangers. The team leader for this unit is Daniel Lelekoiten. The team members are Julius M. Lekaldero, Benjamin Kasaine, Moses Lentimama, John Miricho and David Wambua.
