Its why, over the past 40 years, we’ve successfully rescued, hand reared and reintegrated over 200 orphaned elephants. Beyond the constant threat of ivory poaching, elephants face ever-growing challenges from human-wildlife conflict and incidents are on the rise: Roads, railways, expanding human settlements and shrinking habitats all pose a major risk to wild herds, including our ex-orphaned elephants that are now living wild.
We’re working tirelessly every day to protect wild herds, treat injured individuals and rescue orphaned infants in need. Whether keeping rangers in the field, planes in the air, milk bottles full for baby elephants, or offering emergency medical treatment to injured elephants, your donations allow us to make a direct difference in the lives of elephants in need. This #GivingTuesday only, Tuesday 29th November, your gift will have double the impact, going twice as far in supporting the work of DSWT. However much you are able to give, all online donations made to the DSWT and U.S. Friends of the DSWT on Tuesday 29th November will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $75,000. That means together we have the opportunity to generate a staggering $150,000 for our protection projects in just 24 hours. With your donation, we could seize even more snares and prevent elephants from suffering excruciating pain at the hands of these deadly traps, protect vital habitats and offer more orphaned elephants a second chance at life and ultimately, offer a brighter future to the more than 80 orphaned elephants currently in our care.
