De-Snaring Report for May 2015

During the month of May 247 snares were recovered by the teams on duty (Meru - 137, Burra - 21, Kenze - 36, Ithumba - 17, Ziwani - 36)

During the month of May 247 snares were recovered by the teams on duty (Meru - 137, Burra - 21, Kenze - 36, Ithumba - 17, Ziwani - 36). A further 37 snares were confiscated from poachers by the Ithumba and Tiva teams before they could be set. The Mtito team was on leave during May whilst the Burra, Meru and Chyulu teams were working half month.

Fifteen arrests were made including 8 charcoal burners, 2 loggers, and 5 bushmeat poachers. The majority of these were by Ziwani team who arrested 7 of the charcoal burners and 3 of the bushmeat poachers.  

Also during May a total of 16 charcoal kilns were destroyed as well as 2 poacher's hideouts and 2 shooting blinds.You can read more about each team's activities in our monthly Anti-Poaching Report:
