As long as there is a market for ivory, elephants will be cruelly killed for their tusks

This heart-breaking yet truthful statement is the reason behind our creation of the campaign iWorry Say NO to ivory.

We launched our campaign to raise awareness of the urgent need to stop all trade on ivory internationally, with a permanent effect. We are a front line organisation best known for working out in the field but the escalation of ivory poaching in recent years has led us to launch iWorry.

The terrible fact is without intervention and if ivory poaching continues at its current rate, we could see the African Elephant disappear from the wild by 2025. We simply cannot sit back and allow this to happen. Fortunately it seems our supporters cant either.

When we launched iWorry in September 2012 we were aiming for 36,000 signatures ahead of the CITES meeting in March 2013 helping us demonstrate to delegates how adamant we are they should vote against any movement to legalise the sale of ivory, in any form. Poignantly, this was also the number of elephants estimated to be killed last year. We have been overwhelmed by the fantastic and positive response to the petition and in January, we successfully hit our target of 36,000! With CITES meeting in just one month, we are now aiming for 50,000 signatures. Each signature our petition receives represents another individual who is saying NO to the ivory trade, the more we secure, the louder well be heard. >

However, securing the future of Africas Elephants will mean not just beating the poachers but also tackling black-market sales in China. iWorry must raise awareness about the devastating ivory trade in the Far East and we want to make the petition accessible to all those who care for the future of the African Elephant.

Therefore today we are launching our Japanese and Chinese versions of the iWorry campaign. Thanks to our dedicated translators we have completely recreated the iWorry website and the petition is now available for English, Japanese and Chinese native speakers to read and sign. By informing more people around the world of the shocking reality behind ivory poaching, we hope to hit our 50,000 target and most importantly, better protect elephants.

As highly intelligent animals who have walked this earth longer than mankind, we owe it to them to protect and speak up, while there is still time. Help us spread the word and send the links below to people you know across the globe. Together we can stand up for elephants.
