  1. Mpenzi's calf - 8/28/2006

    On the evening of the 23rd of August our Keepers and Vet Unit received a call regarding a young female elephant gallantly trying to save the life of her day old calf against a formidable pride of 12 lions just below the Voi Safari Lodge. (read more)

  1. The rescue of Chyulu - 8/18/2006

    During one of our Chyulu Desnaring Teamís routine patrols on the 18th of August in the Kibwezi forest, they came across a tiny elephant calf of about 5 months old stuck in a drying waterhole on the boundary with the community in an area called 'Kithasyo' and managed to extract the calf assisted by the community.   1. A three month old calf with a poisonous arrow wound - 8/2/2006

    On the 19th of July a report was received by The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Mobile Veterinary unit in Tsavo East National Park of a small elephant calf still with its herd but obviously injured. (read more)

  1. Update on Kora - 8/1/2006

    After further thought and consultation with many Veterinarians, including the Southern African experts, everyone came to the conclusion that surgery on Koraís infected jawbone was not an option for two reasons. (read more)

  1. Translocation of Elephants from the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, Tsavo West National Park - 7/3/2006

    The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trustís Mobile Veterinary Unit operating together with KWS spent the early part of the month translocating elephants from the Ngulia black rhino sanctuary in Tsavo West. (read more)
