  1. Remembering Pea - 11/27/2016

    Two little ostrich chicks, who we named Pea and Pod, came into our care along with orphaned elephant Waas, all rescued near the Milgis Lugga on the 14th of October 2014. (read more)

  1. DSWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Report October 2016 - 11/18/2016

    October was a busy month for the Anti-Poaching Units operating in the Tsavo Conservation Area.  The continued drought saw a further increase in bushmeat poaching activities with an escalation in the numbers of snares found by the teams as well as a general increase in many illegal activities.   1. Saving elephant 'Ajali' hit by a car in Tsavo - 11/17/2016

    The elephant we named Ajali was first sighted on the 2nd of November after he had been hit by a car on the Mombasa Highway, most likely during the night as his herd crossed the road to the other side of the National Park. (read more)

  1. The Treatment of Ex Orphan Emily for an Arrow Wound - 11/15/2016

    On the 12th October 2016 in the late afternoon it was noted that while several wild herds numbering 200 plus were coming and going from a waterhole within a Conservancy on neighbouring ranches between Tsavo East and West National Park, one herd never moved away. (read more)

  1. The DSWT's Aerial Report from Tsavo - 11/15/2016

    October was quiet regarding poaching activity, especially compared to previous years, as it is normally at this time of the year when illegal activities traditionally spike. (read more)
