  1. Kamboyo and Zurura move to DSWT's Ithumba Unit in Tsavo East - 11/8/2007

    Over the years, it has become a familiar sight – huge trucks parked against the Loading Bays at the Trust’s Orphaned Elephant Nursery in Nairobi, days before the intended departure date, with those orphans due to be moved to the Rehabilitation Units in Tsavo, being coaxed to cooperate by a Keeper armed with a bottle of milk standing inside the vehicles.   1. The Struggle to Heal Sinya - 10/30/2007

     

    When little “Sinya” arrived in the Nairobi Nursery, having been rescued from a Well near the Tanzanian Border close to Amboseli National Park on the 13th October 2007, we could clearly see that she had been through the mill, for there was obvious evidence of immense bruising on her body, with a large swollen area on her back plus abrasions on her right foreleg and under the chin and ears aside from the very obvious Hyena bites through her trunk.   1. The Rescue of Dida - 10/4/2007

    There is a pipeline that runs from the crystal clear Mzima Springs in Tsavo West National Park providing the main water supply for Mombasa, Kenya’s port city on the Indian Ocean. (read more)
