  1. Our Elephant Cherub and the Elephant Whisperer - 1/25/2011

    We have a little Cherub in our Nairobi Elephant Nursery – 4 month old baby Naipoki, who was orphaned when just 3 months old, and rescued from a well in far off Namunyak Conservancy on the 15th December 2010. (read more)

  1. Baby Wasin's death - 1/10/2011

    We win some, and we loose some!   Over the years we have accepted the hard way that  baby elephants can be fine one day, and dead the next and the sudden and unexpected death of precious baby “Wasin” on the morning of 8th January 2011 was a painful reminder of just that!  

    Wasin had never been a robust baby, and maybe this was because she was so young when she came in she may have only had a little of her mother's colostrum,  we will never know, but she never really thrived. (read more)

  1. Encounters from the Mara Veterinary Unit in December 2010 - 1/1/2011

        The second week in the month of December was fast coming to an end and the Vet unit based in the Mara had a busy week and was anticipating a quiet weekend. (read more)

  1. The rescue of Naipoki - 12/17/2010

    We received an early morning call from Jane Craig at 7.00 am reporting news of a tiny baby elephant that had been rescued from a well in the Namunyak Conservation Area, that was in the safe custody of Hilary and Piers of Sarara Camp. (read more)

  1. Suguta, Melia and Tumaren move to the Ithumba Unit. - 12/3/2010

    The time had come for another move to take place, this time the big girls Suguta, Melia and Tumaren,   all best friends and destined for our Ithumba Unit within Tsavo East National Park. (read more)
