  1. Lissa's third wild born baby called Lugard - 4/1/2007

    Lissa was born in Tsavo in 1986, and was found abandoned and alone near Mackinnon Road a victim of the poaching that was rampant during the latter half of the seventies, eighties and early nineties. (read more)

  1. MAXWELL'S OPERATION - 3/23/2007

     21st March 2007 saw the cataract operation on the left eye of our blind baby rhino, “Maxwell or Max”, found abandoned in the Nairobi National Park forest a month ago in February. (read more)

  1. The Battle for Kilgoris - 3/21/2007

    Hot on the heels of losing infant elephant orphan “Galdessa”, today, the 21st March 2007 was another extremely tearful day in our Nairobi Nursery, for the Angel of Death claimed another infant, two month old “Kilgoris” after a gallant and desperate 12 day struggle to save his life. (read more)

  1. Sir Richard Branson's visit - 3/19/2007

     

    Sir Richard Branson visited The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust today and spent time with Dame Daphne Sheldrick and the Orphaned elephants, particularly little Lesanju, who he has supported through the fostering program with a generous donation. (read more)

  1. The birth of the DSWT's Mara Mobile Veterinary Unit - 3/14/2007

     

    As of the first of March, thanks to funding from Rex Dobie of the Minara Foundation, and working with the Kenyan Wildlife Service, the Trust has recently established a second fully equipped Mobile Veterinary Unit which covers the Central Rift. (read more)
