THE DE-SNARING PROJECT: MERU TEAM

Area of Operation:
The Meru team were originally a mobile team equipped to cover areas most needed. They were originally sent to Meru National Park which was deemed a problem area. Since inception the Meru Team have also covered other areas within Tsavo but due to the formation of new Anti-Poaching Teams are now permanently stationed in Meru National Park together with the Trust's funded Meru Mobile Veterinary Unit.
Team Description:
This five man team has been trained through the KWS Manyani Ranger Training Academy and operates accompanied by KWS armed rangers while on patrol. The team leader for this unit is Henry Lekochere. The team members are Elema Mamo Pilias Lekeele,Edwin Mungai and Augustine Malel. This Unit is funded by Lori Price.
