A Report from the Mobile Veterinary Units

All of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's three mobile veterinary units were active during the month of February in saving the lives of many wild animals.  The three species which are reoccurring in reports made are of course elephants, targeted for their ivory, rhinos targeted for their horns, and lions targeted over conflict with pastoralists.  Cases which also appear include natural incidences, which still require the attention of one of the Kenya Wildlife Service veterinarians who head our mobile units.

The Tsavo area continues to receive high levels of injured elephant reports, whilst post-mortems are a regular case reported by all the units in order to diagnose cause of death, which is predominantly as a result of poaching and human-wildlife conflict.
