  1. Celebrating the Legacy of Madiba - 12/8/2013

    What Nelson Mandela, a Giant amongst African Leaders, gave the world, was an example of tolerance and forgiveness, so when the Trust received a newborn elephant orphaned in Botswana, who had spent time in South Africa before coming to us, we named him “Madiba” in honour of Nelson Mandela.   1. The Graduation of Bongo, Narok and Laragai to Ithumba - 11/26/2013

    On the 17th of November it was time for our second move this month, this time with three orphans destined for our Ithumba rehabilitation unit in northern Tsavo East. (read more)

  1. The Rescue of Rorogi - 11/22/2013

    Rorogi’s fate was reported to us on the 9th of October by the Kenya Wildlife Service and our Faru Anti poaching team was sent to Kwale County to respond. (read more)

  1. Sky Vets flies into action - 11/21/2013

    In the last six months of operation the Kenya Wildlife Service/David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Sky Vets program has deployed KWS Veterinarians to all corners of the country including Lamu on Kenya’s remote northern coastline, to the Ndoto Mountains in the Northern Frontier, Amboseli, the Chyulu Hills, Tsavo East and West, the Masai Mara, Shimba Hills, Samburu and Meru National Park, just to name a few.   1. The rescue of Lentili - 11/15/2013

    On October 5th Ol Lentille Rangers on routine patrol sighted an abandoned baby elephant calf, estimated to be 18 months old. (read more)
