July proved a busy month for the Aerial Unit, with nine veterinary cases attended to from the air, two orphaned elephant rescues facilitated, and multiple instances of poaching and illegal activity detected during routine patrols. The team also coordinated firefighting efforts as fire season began and assisted with human-wildlife conflict cases across the ecosystem.

As expected during the dry season, illegal activities increased across protected areas, as did field emergencies requiring support from our SWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Teams. This is the beginning of what will surely prove to be a very intense period until the rains arrive.
