Kaluku Neonate Unit

Twiggy is no longer the only long-necked member of our eclectic Kaluku orphan herd. This month, Gerald the gerenuk entered the fold. He was rescued by our anti-poaching rangers as a days-old orphan. Gerenuk really embody their name, which means ‘giraffe-necked’ in Somali. This unique-looking antelope can survive its entire life without ever taking a drink, instead deriving water from the foliage it eats.
