Meru Mobile Veterinary Unit Report for April 2021

Published on the 15th of May, 2021

It is the beginning of the rainy season, and with that, flora and fauna are benefiting, with tree and plant life blossoming, which is conducive to the health of the ecosystem and its wild inhabitants.

Various veterinary interventions were carried out in April, from translocations to treatments. Unfortunately, bushmeat and ivory poaching were both reasons for call-outs this month, with multiple dik-dik killed for game meat and an elephant having been poached for its ivory. Every effort has been made by KWS to bring culprits to justice and deter them from illegal activities.
