As the month rolled on, it became drier, hotter and more dusty. The abundant seasonal green vegetation has changed into dry browse for the wild animals, however, substantial volumes of water within the rivers has ensured there is enough water for wildlife.

The north eastern side of Kenya continues to struggle with a severe drought. It is during this time that mange infestation is usually observed in reticulated giraffes. This time one death was reported to have occurred in Wajir South, prompting disease surveillance operations.
