March brought a mini baby boom in Ithumba, with the arrival of not one but two new additions to our extended elephant family!
The orphans left the stockade immediately after taking their milk. A wild herd consisting of eight members was present at the stockade compound. After the lucerne was served, the wild herd joined the orphans in feeding. The wild herd was respectful, as they did not bully the orphans.
Their lucerne feeding was disrupted by one of the babies in the group when it suddenly ran east while trumpeting and bellowing. The mother couldn't continue feeding on the lucerne when her naughty baby ran off. She followed the baby, and the rest of her team did so too. The orphans didn’t stay for long after the wild herd left. Naleku led the way to the browsing field. Loldaiga, Roho, and Olorien stopped at the water trough for a drink before following their colleagues. Choka came across a suitable rock that he used to scratch his belly.

Roho found Lodo prepared, and the two boys had a pushing game that finally ended in a draw.
Esoit had a brief meeting with Olorien, and no one understood what the two had discussed.

Immediately, the Keepers started searching for the missing ones. They already knew that Kuishi must have taken them, as she’s the only one who can convince Esoit to go anywhere away from the group. At four o’clock in the evening, Mukutan, Loldaiga, and Choka arrived at the stockade in the company of Kinna, Yatta, and Mulika’s family. Esoit told Roho that he had seen two birds and was trying to catch them, but they flew away. Mukkoka arrived and separated the two boys. Esoit then asked Mukkoka where he had left Kuishi.
