The Amboseli Ecosystem experienced a dry and cold period in July 2026. 19 cases were attended to in the Amboseli Ecosystem with elephants being significantly affected by multiple mysterious deaths.
Laboratory examinations revealed cyanide and bacterial pathogens suggesting the elephants were likely poisoned due to crop raiding. Two giraffe and two zebras were treated for snare/arrow injuries.
