With Christmas fast approaching it's time for the DSWT's 2009 Pre-Xmas auction, this year with some extra special pieces!
Once again we have been blessed with unique lampwork glass pendants and charms, hand-made by DSWT supporter Heather Webb. Each piece is unique and this year we have six necklaces to auction, celebrating six of the orphans successfully rescued by the charity in 2009. Kilaguni, Mutara, Nchan, Shaba, Shukuru and Tano. These items are produced with the sole aim of raising funds for the orphans’ project and we hope that like us you will be inspired by what is on offer.
The extra special element to this year's auction is the inclusion of three stunning bronze works. Understandably commanding an established starting price in the auction, two of these pieces have been created by acclaimed wildlife sculpture Robert Glenn. Scenting the Breeze and Two Old Bull Elephants. Robert's passion for wildlife and his craftsmanship in bringing animals to life through his work are unrivalled, as you will recognise through the two pieces of his work that we are auctioning.
The third bronze work has been created by acclaimed sculpture David Cemmick, through Cemmick Wylder Fine Arts. David is equally passionate about wildlife and following the BBC's Elephant Diaries series David was inspired to create a piece to reflect the orphans rescued by the DSWT. We are sure you'll agree that David has not failed to deliver, with this table top elephant bronze, named after the Swahili word meaning 'life'.
ALL profits from these auction items go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
So whether as a treat for yourself or a gift for a loved one, please do visit the online auction pages to view the lots and hopefully place a bid. The hand-made jewellery auctions start from 15.00 hrs (GMT) on Tuesday 8th December and end 7 days later from 15.00hrs on 15th December. This will allow us the time to pack and post the jewellery lots to winning bidders in time for Christmas.
The three bronze sculptures are available to bid on from 14.00hrs on 8th December for 10 days, ending from 14.00hrs on 18th December.
The highest bidder when an item listing ends wins the item, so be sure to place your highest bid from the start to avoid disappointment. Not forgetting that if you win, not only will you be getting a stunning piece of hand-made art, but you will also be benefitting the orphans in Kenya.
Below is the full list of auction items, including the link to their page on eBay, where you can read a full item description and view photographs of pieces.
