A Day in the Life of Raha

Published on the 18th of June, 2025

Have you ever wondered what Raha's day looks like?

We've put together a special little video charting her best adventures, from sunup to sundown. There are sun-dappled explorations, lazy forest naps, snack time with her warthog friends, and a cosy bedroom to return to.

This time of year, the weather is cooler, and we take all necessary measures to ensure Raha stays warm and cosy. She wears a blue blanket during chilly mornings in the forest, and at night, she has a special thick patchwork version. When her Keeper ties it snugly around her tummy — the signal for bedtime — the little rhino lies down on her bed of hay and drifts off to sleep.

Raha continues to feed well and is steadily putting on weight. We wonder when she will grow out of her attachment to Keepers’ trousers — she still loves to suckle their legs like a security blanket — but so far, there’s no sign of that happening!

As you know, Raha suffered a predator attack as an infant that left her with serious injuries to her rear. While she is beginning to browse more vegetation, she remains hesitant to embrace roughage, due to her compromised digestive system. As a result, she is much smaller than a typical rhino her age and has a rather unique appearance.

Raha remains a wholly unprecedented case. We are taking her journey one day at a time, but we are very pleased with her progress so far. We hope you enjoy this peek into her day!
