High-Octane Mission to Save a Snared Giraffe

Published on the 3rd of March, 2026

Here in Tsavo, World Wildlife Day raced into action with the emergency treatment of a snared giraffe.

It was a challenging operation — treating giraffes always is — but our teams, together with the Kenya Wildlife Service, were determined, professional, and committed to the very end. The snare was removed, the wound treated, and the giraffe went on his way.

This is our conservation work in action — work that happens 365 days a year, for 49 years and counting. The challenges facing Kenya’s natural world are many and varied, but thanks to supporters like you, we are making an impact for individual animals, entire species, and the wild places they call home.
