The orphans settled for lucerne soon after leaving the stockade. They were joined by Ishanga, Sidai, Silas, Malima, Sunyei, Siku, and Saba. Vaarti decided to have a scratching exercise after having enough lucerne. Later, Naleku led the way to the browsing field. At the browsing field, Bondeni challenged Vaarti in a pushing game that lasted for quite some time. Larro teamed up with Sattao, while Mukkoka browsed with Kuishi. Kinyei held a brief meeting with Mayan, but no information came out concerning their meeting.

At eleven o'clock in the morning, Olorien led the way to the mud bath. The temperatures were moderate, and none of the orphans dared to touch the mud-bathing water. The orphans had their milk, then water, before briefly settling into a soil dusting exercise. In the evening, the orphans settled to browse west of Ithumba Hill. They browsed calmly for the rest of the day without any major observations.
