February 24th

Today was a real reunion of ex-orphans: Loijuk, Lil,i Wendi, Wiva, Wema, Wimbi, Kinna, Kama, Ndiwa, Kaia, Mulika, Wanjala, Makena, Tumaren, Tembo, Olare, Ola, Sagateisa, Mwende, Mala, Mkuu, Mulika, Musiara, Ishanga, Karisa, Barsilinga, Olsekki, Bomani, Garzi, Chyulu, Charli, Cheka, Kitirua, Kilabasi, Kofi, Pare, Esampu, Kithaka, Enkikwe, Lenana, and Lapa joined the orphans in the morning. Later, even more ex-orphans started to show up.

Wiva and Kuishi had a disagreement that resulted in a fight. Kuishi stepped on a rock, an age-old tactic that made her appear taller in order to scare off her opponent. Her trick worked and Wiva just walked away. Naleku lagged behind, interacting with baby Tembo. The Keepers came back for her and she was reluctant, but she had no option but to obey her Keepers.

Ndiwa escorted the orphans to the browsing field and browsed together the entire morning. At mud bath time, the weather was chilly and none of the orphans participated in wallowing. The orphans had water then participated in a soil dusting exercise before Larro led them back to the browsing field. The orphans settled to browse in the Kanziku area. The weather was still chilly and the orphans browsed calmly throughout without any major observation. In the evening, Bondeni led the way back to the stockade.
