During the month of February unseasonable rains graced the greater Tsavo Conservation Area, which is normally incredibly dry, bringing fresh vegetation and filling up all the natural watering holes.  Most probably due to these unexpected rains, the levels of poaching incidences during the month declined, with a drop in arrest rates by the DSWT's anti-poaching units and Kenya Wildlife Service personnel, yet a hugely successful operation during the month was the arrest of three notorious poachers, who the Trust hopes will be punished to the full extent.  In additon to ongoing patrols and de-snaring activities the teams also assisted in the darting and treatment of three injured elephant bulls.
