November was quieter than recent months, although teams still covered a remarkable 35,367 km on patrol. They recovered over 100 kg of bushmeat and 38 kg of ivory. In addition to their anti-poaching work, they assisted in firefighting operations as well as several veterinary cases.
In November, SWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Teams lifted 712 snares and made 21 arrests, including the arrest of one bushmeat poacher and 10 suspected bushmeat poachers. Other arrests made during the month include nine herders and one arrest made for illegal entry into the park. Bushmeat confiscated from poachers and camps included over 100kg of bushmeat and carcasses including kudu and zebra meat.
During the month, the teams destroyed seven charcoal kilns, including six harbors/hides/camps used by offenders in the parks along with seven livestock bomas.
Over the course of the month, the teams also discovered two elephant carcasses and handed 38kg of ivory to the KWS for safekeeping. They also supported firefighting operations, pushing elephants out of community areas, along with several veterinary cases and rescues.
