The areas around Lake Naivasha and the Central Rift Conservation Area were dry for most of the month, however, towards the end of March, seasonal rains were experienced in many places.
The SWT/KWS Rift Valley Mobile Veterinary Unit attended to 20 cases during March 2023. Most of these cases, 14 in total, were related to poaching - predominantly snaring victims. There were two cases related to human – wildlife conflict, three cases attributed to natural causes and one case was an autopsy involving what had been a gravely ill elephant cow.
