Headed by KWS Vet Dr Kaitho, the SWT/KWS Rift Valley Unit assists wildlife in the Lake Naivasha – Elementaita – Nakuru Region, and the Bogoria – Baringo Region.

Rift Valley Mobile Veterinary Report for March 2026

The Unit attended to 12 cases in March, the majority of which were snare injuries to various species including zebra, buffalo, eland, giraffe, hyena and warthog. Snaring continues to be a problem within the Naivasha area. The Unit also attended to a Human-Wildlife Conflict case where a hippo was hit by a vehicle.

Wildlife clinical case interventions were undertaken during the month of February. Rift Valley Mobile Veterinary Unit visited the following areas; Soysambu Wildlife conservancy, Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf resort, Green Park, Kenya Nut – Morendat farm, Marula Estates, Lake Naivasha Resort, Manera farm, Lower KALRO, Kigio Wildlife Conservancy among other areas.
