Published on the 15th of June, 2026

The conservation area received less precipitation compared to proceeding months. A few water pans are full, and the vegetation is rapidly drying off though some few areas still have good vegetation cover.

During this period, the Unit travelled as far as the North and South Coast as well as Ts/avo East and West National Parks to provide medical care.

The Unit attended to 8 cases in May, 4 of which included elephants and 5 poaching related. One elephant was found dead following a road accident crossing the highway, one arrowed elephant was given a guarded prognosis whereas the remaining poaching cases were given a good prognosis for a full recovery.
