Kuishi browsing
The orphans settled briefly for lucerne soon after leaving the stockades. Kuishi and Esoit decided to go straight for the green vegetation in the browsing field, with the rest of the group following later. Vaarti came across a nice rock, which he used to scratch his buttocks. Lodo browsed with Kinyei, while Suguroi teamed up with Roho. The orphans settled to browse at the Kanziku area, enjoying the lush vegetation brought by the current rains.
Naleku developed an itchy eye and used her trunk to scratch it. When the trunk didn’t quite satisfy her, she found a nice tree stump and gently rubbed the itching part against it. Bondeni engaged Esoit in a strength-testing exercise that lasted a few minutes before Esoit decided to surrender. Mukkoka browsed with Larro, and at eleven o'clock, Suguroi led the way to the noon bottle feed.
In the afternoon, the orphans browsed west of Ithumba Hill. Larro took a break from feeding to have fun rolling on the ground. Lodo played with Bondeni, while Vaarti played with his friend Mayan.
The weather changed abruptly, and it began raining. The orphans enjoyed playing in the running water and lying down to smear themselves with red mud. The rain stopped an hour later, and the orphans resumed browsing.
It was still wet in the morning following the rains received the previous day. The orphans settled for lucerne soon after leaving the stockades. Shortly after, Lualeni, Lexi, Kilabasi, Kofi, Roi, Mteto, Tumaren, and Tembo emerged from the eastern side and joined the orphans. With the arrival of the ex-orphans, the orphans decided to give them space, and Kuishi led the group to the browsing field.
Bondeni engaged Vaarti in a light strength-testing exercise, while Esoit stayed close to his elder sister, Kuishi, and browsed. Roho decided to have some fun rolling on the ground, and his game attracted Lodo, Kindani, Kuishi, Kinyei, and Olorien, who joined in. After having enough fun, Lodo engaged Vaarti in a light pushing game, while Roho played with Mayan.
At eleven o'clock, Larro led the first group to the noon bottle feed. After taking their milk, the orphans drank water and then returned to the browsing field. The orphans briefly settled for lucerne before heading out to browse. Kindani began her day by enjoying a moist soil bath, while Sattao and Naleku engaged in a scratching session before resuming their browsing. Lodo paired up with Roho, while Suguroi teamed up with Sattao as they settled to browse in the Kone area.
Later, Lodo opted for an early mud bath at Kone Dam and was briefly joined by Naleku and Kuishi, who only washed their feet. Vaarti, Kinyei, and Bondeni enjoyed a long soil-bathing session before returning to browse.
At eleven o'clock, Vaarti led the first group to the mud bath, followed by Suguroi leading the second group. After their milk, the orphans, led by Kuishi, returned to the browsing fields. In the afternoon, they browsed west of Ithumba Hill, where Sattao found a perfectly sized tree stump to scratch his belly.
In the evening, Mayan led the group back to the stockades for another night.
Ithumba Hill was partly covered by clouds as the orphans left the stockade in the morning. They briefly settled for lucerne before Naleku led the way to the browsing field. The orphans chose to browse north of the stockade, with Mukkoka teaming up with Naleku and Larro.
A male lesser kudu disrupted the peace when it sprinted past the orphans, causing them to panic and start running. The keepers quickly intervened, calling to the orphans and assuring them there was no danger. Thankfully, the orphans heeded the keepers' calls and calmed down.
Roho settled to browse with Bondeni, while Suguroi entertained herself by rolling on the ground. Vaarti and Mayan took a break from feeding to scratch against some rocks they found. Olorien and Lodo had a minor disagreement, which they resolved through a brief pushing match. When the conflict escalated, Lodo chose to surrender and moved to join Kinyei in browsing.
Later, Roho had a brief chat with Mayan, while Naleku and Suguroi seemed to have a ‘girl-to-girl’ moment. In the afternoon, Kuishi teamed up with Larro while Kindani and Lodo enjoyed a soil-dusting session before resuming their browsing. Bondeni and Vaarti engaged in a short-lived strength-testing game.
Olorien, Naleku, Suguroi, and Kuishi came across a bush mud bath and had fun rolling in the muddy water. In the evening, Vaarti led the group back to the stockade.
Orwa, Sapalan, and Enkikwe showed up early in the morning before the orphans were let out. After having their six o'clock milk, the orphans came out and joined the three ex-orphans. Kuishi, Mukkoka, and Sattao exchanged morning greetings with Orwa, Sapalan, and Enkikwe before settling for lucerne. Once lucerne feeding time was over, the ex-orphans escorted the orphans to the browsing field and then departed to an undisclosed location.
Kuishi settled to browse with Olorien, while Kindani chose to start her day with a soil bathing exercise. The morning was peaceful as the orphans browsed, enjoying the lush vegetation brought about by the recent rains. Esoit took a break from browsing to engage Roho in a light strength-testing exercise but surrendered when the challenge became too difficult. Roho then moved on to play with Bondeni.
At eleven o'clock, Mayan led the first group to the mud bath. After having their milk, the orphans enjoyed a mud-bathing session. Kuishi and Larro kept an eye on their favourite, Esoit, as he indulged in an extended mud bath. Once Esoit was satisfied, the two girls took him to rejoin their friends.
In the afternoon, Bondeni engaged Roho in a pushing game that went on for quite some time before Bondeni eventually lost. Roho then moved to play with Vaarti.
In the evening, Mayan led the orphans back to the stockade for the night.
Shortly before six o'clock in the morning, Kinna, who had been away for over a week, appeared from the eastern side, followed by her daughters, Kaia and Kama, along with Mundusi, Kilabasi, Kofi, Nasalot, Noah, Roi, Tusuja, Ishanga, and Nusu. But most excitingly, there was a tiny, new baby in the group — who turned out to be Kinna's third daughter! We named her Kito.
It was, as usual, a surprise to us — our ex-orphans always give us what we do not expect. Kaia is only three years old, and we didn’t expect Kinna to have another baby until next year. All the same, it brought joy to us since the family is growing. Kaia and Kama protected their little sister, and they didn't allow the orphans to get close to Kito. Shortly later, Kinna and her team left after introducing her young one to the human family.
Kuishi entwined her trunk with Mundusi in the morning greetings, then parted ways. The orphans settled to browse in the Kanziku area. Mukkoka came across a nice tree that he used to scratch his neck, while the water boy Lodo came across a water pan that he used to have an early mud bathing exercise. After having enough wallowing, Lodo quit and joined Vaarti in browsing and later had a light pushing game.
At eleven o'clock in the morning, Naleku led the first group to the midday bottle feed. After getting their milk, Kuishi led the team into mud bathing. Lodo and Suguroi were the last ones to quit the wallowing exercise. In the afternoon, the orphans settled to browse west of Ithumba Hill.
In the evening, Kuishi, Mukkoka, Larro, Sattao, and Esoit dodged the Keepers and disappeared into the thick bushes. The Keepers mounted a search, but before they could locate them, Kuishi brought her team back to the stockades. Everyone was in their bedrooms before seven o'clock in the evening.
Ukame, Lualeni, Lulu, Lexi, Lili, Lisha, Loijuk, and Chaimu reported in the morning and joined the orphans in feeding on lucerne. We were concerned to see that Chaimu had not reunited with her baby, Chapa — we can only hope that he was kidnapped by other elephants. Happily, Lualeni has reunited with her babies.
Vaarti settled to scratch on his favourite rock, while Esoit engaged Lisha in a light pushing game. Lodo had a misunderstanding with Lulu, and the misunderstanding ended in a competitive sparring match. Lodo surrendered and moved a distance away.
At the browsing field, Bondeni engaged Roho in a pushing game. When the going got tough for Bondeni, he was left with no other option apart from surrendering and running away. Naleku teamed up with Mukkoka and Sattao in browsing, while Olorien settled to browse with Larro. Kinyei came across a nice tree that she used to scratch her neck and buttocks.
Suguroi spotted two lesser kudus browsing nearby and decided to scare them. She ran towards the antelopes, charging and trumpeting. Luckily, the lesser kudus ran in the opposite direction away from the orphans; otherwise, if they had run towards the orphans, hell would have broken loose, because the orphans are secretly frightened of any creatures that charge at them, no matter how harmless.
At eleven o'clock in the morning, Kindani led the first group to the mud bath, while Mayan led the second group. The orphans had their milk, then participated in mud bathing before being led away to the browsing field by Kuishi. In the afternoon, the orphans settled to browse west of Ithumba Hill. The temperatures were moderate, and the orphans had their milk, then headed to the water trough where they had water before returning to the browsing field. Roho engaged Lodo in a light strength-testing exercise and later moved to play with Vaarti. Mayan came across a nice tree that he used to scratch his itching neck.
Mukkoka, Sattao, and Larro split from the main herd and browsed a distance away. Later, the trio rejoined their colleagues, and Vaarti led the way back to the stockades.

Naleku settled to browse with Roho as Esoit found a suitable rock that he used to scratch his belly. Vaarti took a break from feeding to engage Bondeni in a strength-testing exercise. Their game didn't last for long as Mukkoka passed by and pushed the two boys out of his way. Bondeni and Vaarti decided to walk a distance away and settled to browse while conversing privately.
Mayan teamed up with Suguroi and Lodo in browsing. Esoit walked to join Kinyei soon after having enough of scratching. Later, Kuishi picked Esoit and walked a distance away from their colleagues and settled for a wet soil bathing exercise. Olsekki, Sapalan, and Enkikwe joined the orphans in the morning for lucerne. The feeding time didn't take long, as the orphans were in a hurry to go for the green, lush vegetation out in the bush. The three ex-orphan boys didn't follow the orphans but remained at the stockade compound, where Olsekki engaged Enkikwe in a strength-testing exercise.
Mukkoka settled to browse with Roho, while Olorien decided to have fun by engaging in a moist soil dusting exercise. Sapalan and Olsekki joined the orphans in the morning. The ex-orphans shared lucerne with the orphans and later escorted them to the browsing field. Shortly after, the two boys tried to convince Mukkoka, Sattao, Roho, and Kuishi to leave together. Sapalan and Olsekki nearly succeeded, but it appears there was some disagreement a distance away that made the four orphans return and rejoin their colleagues.
Esoit had started complaining when he tried to look for Kuishi and couldn’t find her. It was a happy moment for Esoit when he saw Kuishi coming back. Naleku met with Mukkoka and settled to browse together while trying to find out where Mukkoka and his colleagues had been and why they had returned early. It’s not clear what answer Mukkoka gave to Naleku, but they walked together, heading to the mud bath.
Vaarti teamed up with Mayan and Bondeni in browsing, while Lodo, Sattao, Suguroi, Kindani, and Kinyei decided to have fun rolling on the ground.
At mud bath time, Olorien led the first group, while Larro led the second. After getting their midday bottle feeds, Kuishi led the way back to the browsing field.

Roho decided to have fun rolling on the ground, but Lodo came over and tried to push him. Roho defended himself by sitting down, forcing Lodo to quit and move on to play with Suguroi. Roho then stood up and joined Mayan in browsing.
At eleven o’clock in the morning, Olorien led the way to the mud bath. The orphans had their milk before heading for wallowing. Larro, Roho, Lodo, Kindani, Suguroi, and Naleku had a prolonged wallowing session.

Following her were Lapa, Nasalot, Noah, Nusu, Chyulu, Cheka, Charli, Lualeni, Lulu, Lexi, Yatta, Yogi, Yoyo, Yetu, and Yebo. We named her new baby Laki.
There was no visible excitement among the ex-orphans, suggesting they had already met Lenana’s new baby and were aware of its arrival. Later, all the ex-orphans headed east towards Kalovoto.

Most of the ex-orphans, totaling sixty in number, presented themselves early in the morning and joined the orphans in feeding on lucerne. Due to the congestion and pushing from their seniors, the orphans decided to give them space and slowly walked away to the browsing field. Noticeable that morning were the new wild-born calves, Kito and Laki.
Suguroi and Naleku didn’t get a chance to interact with the newborns as they usually like to whenever they are around. After some time, Suguroi’s team calmed down and resumed browsing after failing to locate the dik-diks.

Kitirua accompanied the orphans and this time browsed with them throughout the morning session. Larro, Kindani, Mayan, Kinyei, and Suguroi took a break from browsing to have a game of playing on the ground. Their game was disrupted by Roho who came to ride on Larro.
